All shelters must be installed on a concrete slab, they are held by 5″ x 3/4″ wedge anchors along the inside wall through the slab. Concrete slab construction is not included in this price.

Have your shelters been tested?
Yes! Diamond Built Shelters have been tested at the Texas Tech Wind and Science Institute and are engineered to withstand an EF5 rated tornado. They are fully FEMA P-320/361 compliant.
What keeps the shelter in place during storms?
All shelters are only installed on a concrete slab. We can provide you with the specifications for construction of a new concrete slab if you do not have one already. The shelters are held in place by 5″ x 3/4″ wedge anchors along the inside wall through the slab.
Will my family be able to breathe?
Breathing is no problem in our above ground shelters. They are built with 2 air vents that ensure safe and secure ventilation for everyone.
Door: In-Swing vs. Out-Swing?
Diamond Built Shelters are designed to open outwards to ensure everyone can easily access and exit the shelter in a hurry when precious seconds matter!
You can request an in-swing door on your request form for an additional $500 if you prefer!
Above Ground vs. Below Ground?
Based on historical data and research we highly reccommend an above ground shelter option. In past severe weather events, data has shown that occupants of below ground shelters can become more easily trapped for long periods of time, drown from excessive water collection, or asphyxiate due to poor ventilation. While we believe new engineering designs of below ground shelters properly address these concerns, we choose to provide above ground shelters to avoid those dangers all together.
